A parade, a Pintrest project, and new items

Happy belated memorial day!

I woke up monday morning to a marching band playing Jackson 5 and it took me a few moments to realize that there was a parade down the main strip of the town. If you’ve never been to Dekalb, let me just tell you that “Downtown” is about a 10 block strip 😀 I must admit I’m still getting used to the little things about living in a small town.

Speaking of things to get used to, there are flowers EVERYWHERE around town and grass! This is part of the Kishwaukee river behind my apartment.

Living in the desert we don’t see much of this around and I still get a little gitty seeing them about. WHICH leads to my pintrest project!

I saw a pin of lovely jars painted gold and I knew I wanted some of my very own! This was my first attempt and coupled with the lovely wild flowers I’ve been eyeing and a little gnome friend (which is a must!)this project has really brightened up my living room!

It was super easy to make too! As an art student, I’m some what of a hoarder o_o and I also believe in recycling so I used a repurposed olive jar, (shhh… don’t tell anyone) wrapped some newspaper round it and taped it off at the length I wanted. I made sure to make an uneven line and spray painted until I had an even coat and violá! You’re done!

So yesterday was not all play (kinda…) I also made new items for my store, and I must say I’m smitten

I don’t know why it took me so long to mix my washi tape cake toppers together but I’ve learned to error of my ways. I’m going full steam ahead with new pairings. In addition to the mixed cake toppers I also made a lovely little bunting garland cake topper to match.

Did you do anything special with your monday?
