Making Popsicles

It’s been a whole three weeks since my last post! Time flies sometimes, especially when you’re busy! I promised my self I’d blog more often but then I just think thats not interesting enough to share. Do you ever feel that way?

Well any who today I wanted to share to my adventures in popsicle making!

I’ve been obsessed the last week with popsicle making. I saw one pin on pinterestĀ (lets be friends!-I’d love to see yours!) and went pin crazy! There are so many options! Not to mention gorgeous pictures! This only made things worse :S So my next step was to go to amazon and check out popsicle molds (of course). They start at about $12 and go up, and while $12 isn’t that expensive, I’m cheap. Period. I decided to hold out. I figured I could probably get them cheaper in town and I’m glad I did! Target pulled through. I got two sets for a whopping $1.50 each! For a $1.50 I can live with the jelly bean šŸ˜‰

So with molds acquired it was time to let popsicle making commence! Back at pintrest, I started really looking at recipes and started to get a bit overwhelmed. There were TOOO many options. Like with most recipes some were easy others were more involved. So after gandering around a bit I decided to wing it.

The first popsicle batch I made were pineapple and lime! This was a great decision! If you like lime this is for you! They were nice a tangy and not to sweet.

Up front I have to admit to you that I didn’t use fresh pineapple. Its nearly impossible to get here in Dekalb. They turned out great anyway!

Here’s a rough recipe of you’re interested. The lovely thing about popsicles (in my opinion) are if the base tastes good you’re all set. Just raid the fruit you have on hand and get to work!

I used:

1/2 a can of pineapples and 1/2 the juice

1 whole lime

1 tablespoon of sugar (about)

a bit of water

*You’ll need a blender

I squeezed the lime straight into the blender added the sugar and pineapple/juice and blended until smooth. Then added a bit of water just to make the mixture a bit more runny. You can use more juice but I was going to use my pineapple for my second batch. The water worked fine. Then pour into your molds.

Now at this point I have to warn you: no matter how much you wish that your popsicles will freeze instantly they won’t. šŸ˜¦ So now you just wait. and wait and wait. Then maybe you’ll forget about them (I didn’t) and tada! Popsicle time!

The second batch I made was pineapple and peach.

For these I used:

1/4 can of pineapple/juice

1 medium peach

a bit of water.

Then I just followed the same process. Throw it all in the blender, blend, add a bit of water, pour in mold and wait!
